With the new scalping system, more beet is harvested and the beets are better protected against losses of yield and more importantly sugar.
Thanks to the defoliator, all the leaves on the sugar beets are accurately removed, leaving the grower with exactly the crop they need to send to the factory. The ProtectPlus parallel head system ensures that every beet is cut to the correct height. Larger beets require more topping than smaller beets, which is why the defoliator is set higher, creating more space between the scalper and the control comb. This means that taller beets are not hit by the defoliator and that the scalpers leave a perfectly chopped beet behind. When a beet is perfectly topped, it is better protected against sugar loss, because the energy from the beet does not go to the damaged part during storage.
